Dear Friends,
In the spirit of "our" new President, I offer a piece of unity. The
past never is to be forgotten, only reconciled.
State of the Union
Once a nation divided
Under a blanket of greed
Now a nation united
Under a cloak of need.
Once clashing over color
Now no middle in our class
So surely we've become brothers
In collective quest of cash.
The Whites against the Blacks
The Blacks against the Browns
Who would've known
That Green would run the town?
We lay in a family bed
Many at foot, few at head
Our fairy tales become grim
As they become us
And we become them.
We once avoided change
Fighting tooth and nail
Now we are begging for change
With a hole in our pail.
If first is to be last
Is it our turn?
This too, shall pass
If only we learn.

Stopped by school
To kindly explain
He proclaimed:

Beseeching their progression to continue
Like tireless hands of a clock.
