Five ongoing years with the Catholic Faculties of Kinshasa!
Since 2005,
Afrikanet has had an ongoing customer-provider
relationship with one of the greatest universities in the Democratic
Republic of Congo; the Catholic Faculties of Kinshasa.

Afrikanet has been providing
the Faculties with broadband internet for nearly 5 years now.
Didier-Dieudonné NZUZI NGUALA; our first contact, in charge of the
IT at the Faculties in DRC :

The Catholic Faculties of Kinshasa (CFK) are an institution of
the Catholic Church. Its history dates back to 1957 with the
creation of the Faculty of Theology. The Theology Faculty now acting
independently became the Catholic Faculties of Kinshasa (CFK) back
in 1987 under the decision of the Congolese Comity of Bishops. The
CFK aims to preserve the cultural African values as well as the
Christian morals and beliefs. The Faculties also encourage studies
of theological and philosophical sciences as well as economic
studies and the development of communications. This is where
Afrikanet's role becomes clear.
Providing internet to developing countries is
a particularly important matter to
Afrikanet. As you may already know,
Afrikanet's biggest motivation
is to bridge the digital divide by providing internet access to less
economically developed countries (LEDCs). Without a doubt, today's
students are the future of our world. Therefore, in order to assure a
secure world where inequalities between the north and south are
eradicated, we need to provide these students with up-to-date and
efficient technology. This is the only way to ensure that the poorer
African countries catch up with the Northern countries. This is why
Afrikanet is so glad that its
relationship with the Faculty has been successful all these years by
providing them a reliable and secure high speed broadband Internet
service. However, Afrikanet
wouldn't be able to provide such a good internet connection without
the help and great work of our local partner CNC and its managing
technician Nicodème Bokoko.
Mr Bokoko and his team provide the After Sales
Service; they install, repair and sell VSATs and also act as local
suppliers. Afrikanet is most
proud to be working with them and to have them as their partner.

Belinda Matomo, a student from the CFK, knows
how important internet is when you are studying or writing essays: "whenever
we have a query or a research to do, instinctively we turn to our
computer and google it, this is why we are so grateful for the high
speed internet connection". This is what
Afrikanet is trying to bring to
the rest of Africa: a fast, effective, and reliable internet
connection that will help students succeed in their studies.
Afrikanet wants to give these
students every chance to succeed in their student and professional
life.
Education
is undoubtedly an important matter in any country; it is one of the
essential keys to professional success.
Afrikanet is committed to helping achieve this for the
development of education. Admittedly, this is a huge challenge,
especially in a country where the status of women, free speech, and
equal access to education are all still debatable. School enrolment
rates are declining. More than 4.4 million children are not in school
mostly due to problems of access, and affordability. According to
UNESCO, the literacy rate in the population over 15 was 54.1% for
women compared with 80.9% for men from 2000-2004. This shows that
education is still very poor in DRC. However, by providing internet to
students in need of it, Afrikanet
is doing a great job; it's the start of improvement and we are all
proud to be a part of it!
Afrikanet, because we are all connected!
